Olivia Culpo, a 20-year-old cellist from Rhode Island, was crowned Miss USA at a glittering ceremony held in Las Vegas on Sunday (June 3, 2012). Olivia strutted across the stage in a lilac bikini and a purple evening gown adorned with a sparkly belt. Olivia looked very confident as she catwalks on the stage blowing kisses towards the audience. In the dreaded final question round, Ms Culpo was faced with the most difficult question of the night: Would it be fair if a transgender woman won the title? She answered, "I do think that would be fair. But I could understand how people could be apprehensive to take that road."Olivia Culpo holds hands with first runner-up Miss Maryland Nana Meriwether as they wait for the announcement of the winner of Miss USA. Olivia will represent the United States at the 61st Miss Universe pageant later this year. An American has not been named Miss Universe since Brook Lee won the title in 1997. The new Miss USA is surrounded by fellow contestants. Olivia searches for an earring while standing with the other four finalists, from left, Miss Ohio, Miss Maryland, Miss Nevada and Miss Georgia.
